STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a st! roke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.

T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today)

R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency numberimmediatelyand describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other,that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

According to recent estimates, nearly 1-in-3 American adults has high blood pressure.   台湾辅仁大学有研究指出,卤味加热超过三小时会产生胆固醇氧化物(COPs),并称该物质有致癌风险。对此,中国营养学会副理事长苏宜香在接受记者采访时表示,目前大陆还未有具体研究结果证明卤味翻煮或长时间加热会产生致癌物质。专家:未证实致癌风险据香港媒体报道,台湾辅仁大学食品科学系参考卤味配方,以碎肉、酱油、冰糖、水等四项原料加热,发现肉类在上述卤水中会产生一种经动物实验证明有致癌性的物质COPs。该系一名教授表示,尽管COPs经动物实验有致癌性,但因煮食产生的分量极少,目前各国都暂无食用安全限量规定。他强调:“如果卤味反复长时间卤,或加热超过三小时,甚至有的店数十年没换过卤汁,就可能产生过量的COPs,危害健康。”不过,他同时指出,研究表明卤水汁内加入冰糖、豉油或红萝卜等自然食材,便可产生抑癌的抗氧化物。对此,中国营养学会副理事长苏宜香表示,目前大陆学界还没有研究证据证实台湾学界的此项研究结果。“有些研究结果在学术上有贡献和价值,但如果套用到分析现实问题上,还需要翔实的调查研究数据和案例分析作为支撑。”不过,她也指出,由于卤水食物大多是肉或内脏,胆固醇和嘌呤的含量都比较高。“嘌呤在人体内代谢可以产生尿酸,如果尿酸高者或痛风病人吃较多的卤水食物,会刺激尿酸上升,甚至引致痛风症发作。”而正常人如果经常吃大量的卤水食品,也可能因高胆固醇而增加血脂异常的风险。

  业内:卤水翻煮很常见卤水食品是广东人餐桌上常见的菜式,更是粤菜中非常有名的招牌菜之一。记者从多个渠道了解到,为了让食品更入味,卤制的时间以及卤水汁的制作都非常重要。一位资深餐饮业人士告诉记者,卤水反复用可谓烹制卤水食品的一道基本工艺,“制作卤水需要很多材料,比如花椒、八角、桂皮、小茴等多种香料和药材,如果煮的时间不够长,卤水汁的味道都没出来,又怎么能做出卤水食品?”该人士还表示,按照地道潮汕卤水食品的制作,制一锅卤水起码得用上两三天,“不可能只用一次就换的。”但他也承认,至于这些卤水最长会用多久,则每家店有每家店的做法。
